A senior junior called to the Bar in 1989 having completed pupillage in traditional chancery chambers in both Lincoln’s Inn and Liverpool, Stephen has a wealth of experience in courts and tribunals across the country and at all levels up to and including the Court of Appeal in general chancery and property related disputes both contentious and non-contentious.

Stephen has given many in house and external seminars on subjects within his expertise. He is always willing to give such seminars for training purposes. For many years Stephen was on the panel for SIF in solicitor negligence claims. He has acted in many such claims both for claimant and for defendant instructed by and against PI insurers.

Stephen’s background is in a traditional chancery practice giving him a broad knowledge of all types of property related claims, boundary disputes, restrictive covenant issues, development agreements, options and the like. In addition he has wide experience in probate and estates work including challenges to wills and claims under the 1975 Act.

Stephen is an expert in retail tenant lease renewals under the 1954 Act and is counsel of choice on a repeat basis for well known high street names.

Over the past few years Stephen has been briefed on numerous substantial commercial dilapidation claims both for landlord and tenant.

Trusts and Probate

Stephen also undertakes a significant amount of probate and administration of estates work especially contentious probate, removal of executors and probate actions and claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependant’s) Act 1975.
