Supreme Court refuses permission to appeal in landmark phone hacking case

The Supreme Court has refused MGN Limited’s request for permission to appeal in the landmark case of MGN Limited v Gulati and ors. Judgment at trial given by Mann J represented the largest awards of damages yet made by an English Court for breach of privacy ([2015] EWHC 1482 (Ch)).  The Court of Appeal dismissed the appeals of MGN Limited and the Supreme Court has refused permission to appeal the Court of Appeal judgment. That Court of Appeal judgment therefore stands ([2015] EWCA Civ 1291).
